Graveyard of the colonialists?

This photograph was taken during a Taliban military parade in August 2001. I was especially struck by two things:

First, the banner in the background is written in English. (The full message seems to read AFGHANISTAN IS THE GRAVEYARD OF THE COLONIALISTS.) So did the Taliban know in August that the war was coming?
Second, the Toyota? truck in the foreground is named GOODLUCK. I suppose it could have come from the factory that way--the Japanese seem to adore enigmatic English phrases, wearing them on tee-shirts and jackets, so why not light trucks? But still ... good luck!
